This opulent masterpiece was ordered by Napoleon III to house the Paris Opera and completed in 1875. Sparkling mosaics, gilt walls, immense chandeliers and a tremendous marble double staircase glow, following a recently completed restoration. The theater ceiling was repainted in 1964 by Marc Chagall. Its dreamy vibrancy a sublime contrast to the baroque richness of this Parisian jewel.
