Harrods, Disney and renowned designers like Valentino, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Elie Saan and Oscar de la Renta will soon come together under Christie’s roof. The 10 Disney Princess-inspired gowns which were exclusive designed to beautify Harrods’ 2012 Christmas windows are set to go under the hammer in November.
Elegant dresses by Roberto Cavalli for Pocahontas, Versace for Cindarella, Jenny Packham for Rapunzel and Marchesa for pretty Little Mermaid are a part of this collection.
Roberto Cavalli worked upon Pocahontas dress while Escada shaped out an outfit just right for Princess Jasmine. Valentino contributed a gown for Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Missoni designed for Mulan.
Harrods store image director Mark Briggs vows, “These exquisite dresses are really one-of-a-kind fashion items from some of the most celebrated and collected designers this century. They caused a huge amount of excitement when they were first showcased in the Harrods windows and we’re sure fashion aficionados around the world will be thrilled with the opportunity to own something so utterly unique.”
This enchanting Snow White gown has been designed by Oscar de la Renta.
Clare Borthwick, Vintage Couture Specialist at Christie’s adds, “The rarity of these items mixed with the global appeal of Disney Princesses will make these extremely sought-after, and we expect much interest from around the world.”
And its not only related to fashion and fantasy, as the money raised through this auction for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity will help to improve lives of sick children.
