The historic Palace of Versailles is all set to be known as the new address of a luxury hotel and restaurant run by the renowned French chef Alain Ducasse.The Michelin-starred chef’s company Lov Hotel Collection has undertaken the project to transform the three buildings on the royal grounds. The Grand Contrôle, the Petit Contrôle and the Pavillon des premières cent marches are located in the southeast area of the palace grounds and served as the king’s Ministry of Finance and a military mess for soldiers since opening in the 17th century.
The grounds which have been home to royals including the likes of Marie Antoinette and Louis XIV will boast of a hotel fit for today’s royal. The luxury boutique hotel has been planned to feature about 20 rooms and a fine dining restaurant. It’s decor will transform guests back to the opulent, lavish style of the 18th century.
Scheduled to open in 2018, the buildings span 2,800 square meters and will soon undergo about $16 million worth of renovation. Well-heeled travelers will soon get one more reason to plans a trip to France.
