Cannes Film Festival is not only about films anymore as for the first time in its history a cookbook has been launched. Vikas Khanna, one of the hottest chef of America, has unveiled his latest book ‘Utsav – A culinary epic of Indian festivals’ at French Riviera. The award winning Michelin starred Indian chef, restaurateur and cookbook writer as well as the host of the TV show MasterChef India has launched the world’s costliest cookbook for $13,000. Penned with pure gold ink, the over 1,000-page coffee table book contains 1,000 recipes from 70 Indian festivals. The book celebrates the festival’s rituals, ceremonies and customs of food through sacred ingredients. Published by Bloomsbury Publishing, the book pays homage to the Transgender community of India. It has taken over a dozen years for Vikas Khanna to research, write and photograph this limited edition book.
Vikas is all set to hand deliver this cookbook to the world’s top 12 leaders who have inspired him as a gratitude and to his “Motherland to the World” with the first edition to be gifted to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the launch, Vikas stated, “The journey of anything auspicious begins with transgender community singing and clapping at the doors of our homes, their blessings are like Mother’s love. It may be a wedding, child births, first Diwali, Holi or Lohri, it’s their voices that bring the celebration in the occasion. So, I dedicate this book to them to them and applaud for their love and compassion in our Nation.”
