12th annual Speciality and Fine Food Fair

More than 600 suppliers of local and artisan fine foods will gather at the 12th edition of the Speciality and Fine Food Fair, 40 percent of which will be new exhibitors this year. A live Specialty Chocolate demo will also take place for the first time this year, featuring new techniques, flavor ideas and tastings from pastry chefs and chocolatiers.

3rd annual Le Grand Fooding

The first installment of Le Grand Fooding in New York is the Campfire Session, a one-day event that aims to explore the relationship between music and food. A beef and chive salad by Basque chef Inaki Aizpitarte of Le Chateaubriand in Paris, for instance, is paired with DJ James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. Le Grand Fooding is a spin-off of the French gastronomy group Le Fooding. The second installment of Le Grand fooding plays on a French surrealist technique called Exquisite Corpse in which artists collaborate on a painting with their own contributions. For 52 hours, 12 rotating chefs will build a menu each taking an ingredient from the previous chef’s meal. The cast of chefs are some of the hottest in the world, including Corey Lee of Benu, Sat Bains of Sat Bains in the UK, Massimo Bottura of Italy and Armand Arnal of La Chassagnette in France.

International Dairy Show

New at this year’s show is an Innovations Awards that will recognize excellence in innovation and technology. Categories include food safety, ingredient, flavoring and additives, sustainability and packaging. The trade show also sheds light on trends in the dairy industry. This year’s featured speaker is Karl Rove, former senior political advisor to former US president George W. Bush. Another theme this year is the global water scarcity and “what dairy companies need to know.”

Natural Products Expo East

This year’s edition of Natural Products Expo East returns to Baltimore after being held in Boston for three years. More than 1,300 health and beauty products, natural and specialty foods, pet products and supplements will be showcased this year. The keynote address will be given by the New York Times best-selling author Daniel H. Pink, who will share new ‘motivation techniques’ with attendees. Author, environmentalist and producer Laurie David will also speak about the positive impact adults and kids can have on the planet. Last year, more than 19,300 attendees from 96 countries took in the expo. The event is also co-located with The Organic Summit and Biofach America: All Things Organic.

Though only in its fourth year, Lunch! is an award-winning trade show for the takeout food industry in the UK and attracts independent cafes, coffee shops, sandwich bars, supermarkets and wholesalers. One of the crowd favorites is the Innovation Challenge which shortlists the ten best new products and crowns the winner at the show. It will also be an important show in the run-up to the London Olympic Games next summer which will attract millions of hungry tourists who will be grabbing lunch on the go between races. This year is expected to feature 200 exhibitors.

New York City Wine & Food Festival

This star-studded food show in New York will be the meetingplace for some of the biggest chefs and food personalities around the world. New this year is an inaugural tribute dinner that will pay homage to Jacques Pépin and Prince Robert of Luxembourg. Other festival events include Fried, where TV personalities like Bob Blumer and Tyler Florence get creative with southern fried chicken, and culinary demonstrations by Food Network personalities like Alton Brown, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Paula Deen. All proceeds benefit Food Bank & Share Our Strength. The event is hosted by the Food Network.
