Enhanced by the location of the floating movie screen, the whole experience was both a relaxing oasis of comfort in the Andaman Sea, miles away from any stressful thoughts or events, but also a gathering place for creative minds. Set in the private island of Yao Noi in Thailand, this exquisite outdoor floating movie theater sets a new standard for cinematic experiences.
The luxurious floating movie screen with a surprising set of high-rising limestone in the background was designed by architect Ole Scheeren in collaboration with the Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Foundation. The auditorium named Archipelago Cinema is a collection of rafts floating on the sea facing a huge movie screen. This whole movie watching possibility set in a paradise-like setting was part of the new Thai film festival called Film on the Rocks Yao Noi. Actors, writers, designers and artists came together to enjoy and discuss movies in a serene, almost eccentric environment.
