On August 4, Irish rockers U2 announced details on the 20th anniversary reissue of their album Achtung Baby, considered their most popular disc.
First announced earlier this year, 20 Years of Achtung Baby will be released on October 31 in the UK (November 1 in the US) in five different versions, including an Uber Deluxe Edition that comes complete with a pair of frontman Bono’s signature sunglasses.
The Uber Deluxe Edition also comprises six CDs including the original Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and B-sides and reworkings of previously unheard material recorded during the Achtung Baby sessions.
Also included in the set are DVDs featuring the U2 documentary From the Sky Down, slated to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8 and directed by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim. In addition, footage of a concert in Sydney as well as all of the music videos from Achtung Baby are included in the set. At $630, you’ll also get five clear 7″ vinyl singles in their original sleeves, 16 art prints taken from the original album sleeve, and an 84-page hardback book.
The Super Deluxe Edition, priced at $170, comes with six CDs, four DVDs, plus a 92-page hardback book, and 16 art prints. Other options include a vinyl box set with four LPs, a deluxe edition featuring reissued B-sides and rarites, as well as a single disc reissue.
U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and has sold more than 150 million records worldwide.
