The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has five new members.

This year’s inductees include Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, the Alice Cooper Band, Dr. John and Darlene Love.

All the inductees have been eligible for years, so for each, the call is no doubt a relief.

Chart topping Diamond is famous for writing (and performing) dozens of hits spanning decades, including such classics as ‘I’m a Believer’, ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘Cracklin’ Rose’.

Tom Waits is not a household name to most music fans, but to musicians and critics he’s been a darling for decades. His gravelly voice has recounted countless tales of seedy bars and twisted worlds. His music mixes everything from rock, to blues, to jazz to vaudeville to create a truly unique sound.

Piano playing Dr. John is famous for bringing together R&B, boogie woogie, jazz and rock into a distinctive New Orleans fusion. His decades long career as a solo artist and session player has made him a staple in the industry.

The Alice Cooper Band was pioneer in theatrical rock, paving the way for such bands as KISS. Cooper, lead by frontman Vincent Furnier (who would take the persona of Alice Cooper as his own) is famous for hits like ‘School’s Out’ and ‘I’m Eighteen’.

Darlene Love began her career in the early 60s in the girl group the Blossoms. As a solo artist and studio performer, she would work steadily for decades.

The induction ceremony will be held in March in New York.
