Is anyone else way too into a television show that features a woman who talks to dragons? Yes, we’re talking about Game of Thones.
Kings, courts and castles have occupied our screen this past year, and now that the new season has begun, we’re all about all things GOT. Bring your royal fantasies (safely) close to home with these castles and estates within the United States. We’ve chosen three of our favorites that remind us of various locations within the Game of Thrones realm.
Castle Black and North of the Wall: The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, Colorado
Located in the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado, The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera was modeled inspired by a château in Belgium. The more than 7,000 acres of beautiful terrain make any guest feel like a king. If the spectacular mountain views aren’t enough, the destination offers five unique neighborhoods (read: villages), four championship golf courses, multiple options for fine-dining, and countless year round-amenities. Guests can opt for a day of skiing, biking, fly fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding and more. Only minutes from Vail and an hour and a half west of Denver, Cordillera is an easy escape from reality. If a weekend stay at the lodge isn’t enough, there are homes available for ownership, plots of land to build your own estate or even “castle-like” homes to rent as your own private retreat.
North-East (Winterfell): Castle on the Hudson, New York
Only thirty minutes north of Manhattan, Castle Hotel & Spa sits majestically atop one of the highest points in Westchester County overlooking the Hudson River amid sprawling acres of manicured gardens and grounds. With over 100 years of history, the Castle is undoubtedly a sumptuous escape to the enchanted era of America’s Gilded Age. The Castle’s luxurious guest rooms, suites with wood-burning fireplaces and lavish amenities, continue to be a favorite among dignitaries and celebrities.
South-East (King’s Landing): The Biltmore, North Carolina
Since 1895, Biltmore has had the natural beauty of the mountains and the majestic house and gardens to beguile us, inspire us, and allow us to escape from the everyday. Now, you can experience life as a guest of the Vanderbilt’s at our Inn on Biltmore Estate. You can also reimagine your own surroundings with a line of home furnishings, bedding and bath items, and gourmet foods.
Of course, there are many more grand estate homes and hotels throughout the country – leave your favorites in the comments below!
