Apple is prepping for an April 2011 release of the next generation of its iPad tablet.
Reports indicate the device will be thinner and capable of running on cellular networks worldwide. The latter move would allow multiple carriers for the iPad, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless, plus networks in Europe and Asia.
Other changes are expected to include a dual-camera setup, allowing users to conduct Facetime video chats, and a mini-USB report to replace the iPad’s 30-pin dock connector.
The moves would work well for Apple, as a slew of tablet products will be hitting the market in 2011. By introducing the updates in early 2011, potential buyers eying up other tablets with features such as the dual cameras, may be content to wait until April to get the next generation iPad.
