London’s Selfridges has unveiled a torso of Rick Owens on the balcony of its Oxford Street flagship. The sculpture is a part of The World of Rick Owens installation at the department store.
Starting September 1st, the Concept Store at Selfridges London will play host to a special curation by Rick. Featuring furniture, tableware, design pieces, albums and books handpicked by the designer – the unique collection will give a personal insight into Rick’s creative and personal environments.
“The world of Rick Owens will be the biggest single designer project Selfridges has ever initiated,” said Sebastian Manes, Selfridges buying director. “This is a testament to how passionately we feel about the concept and how important the brand is to our business. We are extremely excited to be bringing Rick Owens, who so effortlessly avoids the mainstream, to the very forefront of the Selfridges’ fashion proposition.”
Celebrating the designer’s cutting-edge approach to fashion, The World of Rick Owens encompasses an exclusive collection, a curation of the ground floor Concept Store, dedicated menswear and womenwear destinations, grandiose window displays and a 25-foot Rick Owens torso which will preside over the Oxford Street canopy throughout the campaign.
