Before they step onto the red carpet wearing Versace, Givenchy, Dior, Valentino, Armani and Ferragamo, Hollywood’s biggest stars will step out of the car that brought them there. While we expect Daniel Craig to show up in an Aston Martin and Matthew McConaughey a Lincoln, for those not tied to a specific automotive brand, here are the 5 cars we recommend arriving in to make the right impression on Oscar Night.
5. Cadillac Escalade
Once the exclusive conveyance of rap stars and wealthy ranchers, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is now a legitimate limo platform. The ride is smooth and quiet. When it pulls up at the curb, given its size, distinctive shape, and all LED lighting, it’s hard not to notice. And not only is the interior first class, with soft, supple leather, rich wood trim and room for the star and most of their entourage, there are also enough video screens to ensure the star can admire his or her performance all the way to the ceremony.
4. BMW i8
Every year some celebrity tries to burnish his or her green credentials by showing up in an oh-so-ordinary Prius. Thanks to BMW, they can make an even greener statement without the dweeb factor by pulling up to the red carpet in an i8. Not only does it get a combined 76 miles per gallon, the factory it’s built in is wind and solar powered, and the car uses recycled materials in its construction. Oh, and it looks like it’s from the future. One tip for the women; you’ll probably want to wear a Ralph Lauren pant suit so you don’t have a Britney Spears moment when climbing out of the low-slung i8.
3. Maserati Quattroporte GTS
Lets face it, you have more than a few options if you want to arrive in a six-figure, four-door sedan. You can get a W12, 500 horsepower Audi A8; a V12, 535 horsepower BMW 760Li; a V12, 523 horsepower Mercedes S600. Each is fantastic to drive and to ride in. And without a doubt several attendees will show up in those cars tonight. But when you pull up to the front of the Dolby Theater in a Maserati Quattroporte, all heads will turn your way when they hear it’s spectacular 523 horsepower, twin-turbo V8 announce your arrival.
2. Bentley Mulsanne
If you’re an A-lister or want everyone to think you are, showing up in the biggest Bentley makes a statement that’s hard to ignore. With arguably the finest interior in a luxury car, if you opt for the Mulsanne Speed, you’ll also get a car that features a 6.75 liter twin-turbo V8 is capable of spiriting you away from the paparazzi, with a 0-60 time of just 4.8 seconds. And with a 190 mph top speed there’s no way they’ll be able to catch you.
1. Rolls-Royce Phantom
Hollywood and Rolls-Royce go together like Champagne and Caviar. And when you’re riding in the back seat of the Phantom on the way to the Oscars, you can enjoy all four. Just make sure your bespoke Phantom is equipped with a Champagne cooler and signature Rolls-Royce Waterford crystal flutes. And, with the starlight headliner flickering above your head on the way to the afterparty, it won’t matter whether you won a statue or not, because when you’re riding in a Rolls, life can’t be anything other than good.
