The epic film by the award-winning director of films from Red Sorghum to House of Flying Daggers and Hero is China’s selection for the Best Foreign Language Picture Oscar. Based on historical events, the story follows Bale, who plays an American disguised as a Jesuit priest and offering refuge to Chinese as the Japanese army invades Nanking in 1937. The film releases in China on December 16, with North American and other market dates to be announced.
