There’s a new luxury resort coming to Maine this August, and we can’t wait to visit. Cliff House Maine, nestled across 70 acres atop Bald Head Cliff on the southern coast of Maine, will once again open its doors to guests in August 2016 following the first phase of a large-scale $40 million revitalization. Part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts brand, this updated property is a much-needed perk in the ruggedly beautiful Ogunquit area.
Pursuitist has some of the first images and details of the soon-to-reopen property.
Cliff House will feature 132 well-appointed guest rooms, each with terraces overlooking the majestic Bald Head Cliff and expansive water views. We’d select the Luxury Collection with enchanting fireplaces, king size beds and expansive private terraces or the coveted Luxury Spa Suites located within the spa offering exclusive services and treatments.
Signature restaurant, The Tiller, will feature a seasonal menu containing varying flavors for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The venue will serve farm-fresh local produce, line-caught fish, roasts and homemade recipes passed down from generations. This impeccable location to celebrate the day with outdoor refreshments extends its innovative amenities into a casual oceanfront lounge with exceptional views. The Tiller’s outdoor bar is just past the double sided fireplace, paying homage to the fisherman and early rum distillers of New England with fresh and regional dishes and cocktails on the terrace. An idyllic oceanfront retreat, Nubb’s Lobster Shack provides guests with beloved Maine lobster rolls, fried clams, raw bar, and juicy burgers with pickled garden tomatoes while playing games and engaging in lively conversation. A selection of local craft beers from regional brewers offers a wide spectrum of session IPAs to rich seasonal porters, while cocktails are handcrafted with garden-picked ingredients.
Another highlight of the property will be the 9,000-square-foot spa at Cliff House, which will feature four lavish product lines: Elemental Herbology, Sciote, Red Flower andZents, which provide unparalleled renewal. Embracing “wild and free” elements of coastal Maine, the spa channels the transformative interplay of water, stone, sky and sand. It will serve as an oasis for guests to rejuvenate and recharge through a circuit of saunas, steam rooms and aroma showers, as well as services.
The resort is already planning to be a popular wedding venue. The new Atlantic Ballroom, with its expansive panoramic windows that reveal unobstructed views of the ocean will be a popular reception spot.
Cliff House promises to be a destination for active travelers. Guests will have access to year-round recreation throughout the property and in the surrounding New England coastal area. The resort is set on 70 lush acres that will include a 9,000 square foot luxury spa as well as 18-hole golf course adjacent to the property. Tennis, hiking, biking, sea kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and helicopter tours of the lighthouses and coastlines are just among a few thrilling activities that will be available to guests.
The resort will expand further with additional guestrooms and an adults-only pool in spring 2017.
