The Book of Mormon, the irreverent comedy from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, won nine Tonys. The Broadway show’s victories included Best Musical and Best Original Score. The show had received 14 nominations.
Best Play went to War Horse, a drama set in WWI about an English boy and his horse. The play is being adapted by Steven Spielberg into a film.
