After being stuck at the No. 2 spot for the last two years, triple Michelin-starred Spanish restaurant El Celler de Can Roca moved up a rung Monday night, knocking Danish restaurant Noma off its perch to take the title of world’s best restaurant.
At a gala ceremony attended by the world’s culinary glitterati at London’s Guildhall Monday, trade publication Restaurant magazine released the results of its World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards — a ranking that makes overnight celebrities of chefs and keeps dining rooms full for months in advance.
France and the US tied for having the most restaurants represented on the top 50 list: six apiece.
Here’s are the top 50 restaurants in the world according to a panel of 900 food critics, chefs, restaurateurs and “gastronomes” tapped into the food scene:
