Tent-Inspired Luxury Cabin In one of Sweden’s Pine Forests

Knowledge comes through experience and understanding. It’s one thing to visit Sweden’s tourist attractions and a completely different thing experiencing the specific flora and fauna, weather and secluded beauty of a pine forest, for example. And this is how we evolve, by taking what we know and doing what we can to improve what we have.

This must have been what Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer felt when proposing a new camping concept for an old camping site. Part of the traditional Hölick Sea Resort located on the coast north of the Swedish city Hudiksvall, the modern Chalet Lagunen invites international guests to indulge in spending private moments alongside family and friends in a modern, comfortable environment surrounded pine trees.

“The proposal is a total concept of living, food, services and experiences – including nature, buildings, footpaths, bridges, lighting and signage – to achieve an over-all experience, while keeping a feeling of privacy.”

Set against a lush forest background, the highly contemporary cabin provides not only a pleasantly adapted interior design, but also a cozy place to enjoy while the weather outside constantly reminds you in which part of the world you are. The modern cabin in the woods was intended to “increase the quality of living and add new values to the former camping”, according to the designers.

This lodge-reminiscent modern dwelling was inspired by former tents that used to rest on the premises. Constructed out of wood and boasting a Gotlandic traditional faltak (wooden roof), the first cabin of its kind spreads over 90 square meters. The plan is to build 22 houses of two different types (80 and 90 square meters) that would reinterpret the traditional tent in this Swedish resort.

Photographed by Jacob Nordström, the luxury cabin features spacious interiors flooded with natural light bouncing off light-colored walls. Planned for experiencing a relaxing Swedish summer lifestyle with family and friends, the cabin is an enticing place where affluent customers can find peace and serenity within a wild, natural landscape.  Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (3) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (4) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (5) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (6) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (7) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (8) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (9) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (10) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (11) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (12) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (13) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (14) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (15) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (16) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (17) Chalet Lagunen by Mats Edlund and Henrietta Palmer (18)
