Innovation marks the Spring/Summer 2010 menswear season with such items as sheer linen blazers and pleated pants expected in stores. Despite certain styles too outré for the executive male, most looks, buyers agree, were very wearable. “Spring was all about optimism and lightness,” says Michael Fisher, menswear editor at Stylesight, a New York City-based trend forecasting firm. “There was a more minimalist approach to the collections.” Could be because designers hope to continue to muddle through a challenging sales environment: Monthly menswear sales are holding steady; year-over-year apparel prices in the U.S. increased by 0.2% in May, while women’s apparel decreased by 0.8%, according to the U.S. government’s monthly-issued Consumer Price Index. – From Forbes
