Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations Division rolls out a new luxury armored vehicle. Christened Range Rover Sentinel, it is all set to make its global debut at the Defence and Security Equipment International Exhibition at London’s Excel arena between the 15th and 18th September. 
1 – Hand built at Land Rover’s Oxford Road facility in the UK, the vehicle is the based on the standard wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography and provides the highest levels of protection an SUV can offer.
2 – Designed to withstand the most damaging and targeted threats the vehicle is verified to VR8 standard against ballistic threats. This means, Sentinel can withstand armor piercing incendiary bullets and the blast from DM51 grenade explosions.
3 – The Range Rover Sentinel retains Land Rover’s huge breadth of capability and uncompromised levels of luxury and refinement, despite its upgraded level of protection.
4 – It drives in with a six–piece armored passenger cell made of super-high-strength steel and the multi-laminated armored privacy glass, which provides bullet protection.
5 – Other features under the hood include an anti-tamper exhaust, a self-sealing fuel tank, an auxiliary back up battery and a split charging system.
6 – It also boasts of run flat inserts on the tires, which allows the vehicle to be driven on even if the tires are deflated.
7 – Emergency Escape System behind the rear seats helps the occupants to escape when the main doors are blocked by an accident or an attack.
8 – The Range Rover Sentinel is powered to make the most of its 340PS 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine in conjunction with a specially-calibrated ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
9 – The 100 mm opening in the driver’s window for document delivery ensures the vehicle is secure while the load space features anti-smash protective glass ensuring the cabin remains a safe house.
10 – Available to order from the beginning of September 2015, the $446,000 Range Rover Sentinel also comes with a full driver-training program that ensures drivers are capable of handling the vehicle to maximum effect in the most challenging circumstances.
