Great weather… Beautiful places to stay… Direct flights from New York (and other major US cities). And so much to do!
The Palm Beaches of Florida are home to legendary resorts, exquisite mansions, and historic landmarks. Enjoy beach breezes and take in the stately palm trees and Gilded Age architecture while immersing yourself in the area’s most luxurious activities. With so much to do, we’ve found it hard to narrow our favorite suggestions for Palm Beach pastimes and privileges. Nonetheless, here are ten experiences you must not miss (in no particular order):
Take in an afternoon of polo at the International Polo Club. The IPC Palm Beach is known as the premier winter equestrian destination in the world, with a season that runs from January through April. IPC hosts the largest field of high‐goal teams and the most prestigious polo tournaments in the United States, so whether you’re a polo player or just a savvy spectator, you really won’t want to miss the action here.
Time your visit to be wowed by the fast, interesting, and exotic at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. Owner Craig Jackson brings his annual one-of-a-kind car event — the only collector car auction on the East Coast. Each year this auction event brings millions of dollars’ worth of classics. Place a bid… or just enjoy the auction antics!
Pause to play one of the earliest sports of the genteel set: Croquet. Home to the world’s largest croquet facility, with lawns spanning 4 acres, the National Croquet Center is the place to play a set — or several. Even as a non-member, you can experience free play Saturday mornings on any of its 12 full-sized croquet lawns or simply enjoy the history and hospitality of the sport in its 1900 square foot club house.
The Palm Beach’s Annual Winter Equestrian Festival events showcase both the thrills and grace of show jumping and the elegance of dressage. This largest — and longest running — horse show in the world, is both exciting and entertaining for those who love the sport… or just want to admire the beautiful beasts.
Love to hit the links? Golfers of all ability levels have 160 public and private courses to tee off in the Palm Beaches — many of them exceptionally acclaimed. Like The Champion course at the PGA National Resort & Spa… redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990 and now hosting the Honda Classic each spring on the PGA Tour. This “grand slam” is updated with new turf, rebuilt bunkers, and expanded tee and green complexes.
Stroll and shop down Worth Ave. Worth Avenue is one of the most beautiful and luxurious shopping venues in the United States, with upscale stores along the main street as well as boutiques on smaller, architecturally significant “vias.” It’s a shopping nirvana!
Take in a cabaret performance in The Royal Room at the Colony Hotel. Hailed the “best place for Cabaret on the planet” (The Palm Beach Post), the Royal Room at The Colony features sizzling, song‐filled performances by fast‐rising performers straight from New York City’s leading Cabarets.
Take in the arts at any of the Palm Beaches many cultural venues, like The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Displayed throughout the house, studio, and gardens are more than 100 works by the artist, including nine monumental sculptures — eight in brick and one in granite. It’s like discovering another world!
Have a lovely lunch or a boozy brunch at Café Boulud. Since opening in 2003 inside The Brazilian Court on Palm Beach, the restaurant has become one of Palm Beach’s most “scene-y” dining destinations, plus a coveted place to linger due to its earning four stars in the Forbes Travel Guide and Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award of Excellence.” The French‐ American menu parallels that of Café Boulud New York, but adds just the right touch of South Florida resort flavor.
Escape to the Atlantic on a luxury yacht. Delray Yacht Cruises has a selection of luxurious vessels for you to experience the calm waters of the Intracoastal Waterway, all while enjoying a beverage or snack on a two‐hour narrated tour past some of the area’s most beautiful mansions.
The Palm Beaches blends historic entertainment districts and a sophisticated arts scene with fabulous beaches, breezes and sun. As you can see, there are a wide variety of activities for all types of travelers!
