The Snoras Snow Arena, a huge new indoor winter sports center and the first and only such attraction in the Baltic States, opened its doors last month in the resort town of Druskininkai, Lithuania.
With three ski slopes stretched across eight hectares, it is one of the largest indoor winter sports arenas in the world, constructed to provide year-round skiing at a cost of some €32 million.
As well as skiing, the Snow Arena offers the DruFunPark, a four-level entertainment complex for children, and several restaurants and bars, including a (real) ice bar by Absolut and a wine bar.
For Lithuania, which is rapidly developing as a tourist destination for visitors from western Europe, it’s yet another feather in Druskininkai’s tourism cap.
This month has also seen the launch of the first part of a new 18-hole golf course, the Wolf Golf Club — and that’s on top of the largest Aqua Park in the region.
“Druskininkai resort is one of the most popular places to visit all year round in Lithuania,” said a spokesperson for the Lithuanian Tourism Office in the UK.
“The resort is gifted with mineral waters and curative mud. It has been popular for centuries with Lithuanians and neighbour countries. However, only in this decade the town has developed very fast and in addition to many spa centres, today it offers largest Aqua Park and now Snow Arena in Baltic States.”
