Six Senses, the luxury management company known for exotic resorts and spas in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations, has announced the opening of their first European property. Located in the UNESCO World Heritage Douro Valley of Portugal, Six Senses Douro Valley will open in the spring of 2014.
The 71-room, 19-acre resort will offer spacious rooms and suites with valley, spa and river views as well as freestanding one, two and three-bedroom villas.
Highlights of the property will include an interactive Wine Academy, farm-to-table fare from the resort’s own gardens in a contemporary play on Portuguese classics, and of course, a large Six Senses Spa. The 24,000-square-foot spa will feature 10 treatment rooms, local wine-influenced treatments, and the resort’s Six Senses Visiting Practitioner Program which features over 100 of the world’s best wellness healers, practitioners and experts. The group’s popular Yogic Programs are also being added to the menu of services which appeal to different levels of yoga practitioners through Discover Yoga and Yogic Detox.
Spa facilities also include a heated indoor pool with water jets, a heated outdoor pool and bar, and a gym with the latest exercise equipment and professional guidance. There are specially designed spa journeys for couples and some purely pampering procedures. A tennis court rounds out the on-site recreation facilities.
Six Senses is rapidly growing as a brand, the property is the 12th to join the portfolio.
