Music reality kingpin Simon Cowell is selling his rarely driven (and we mean rarely) 2008 Bugatti Veyron, which he purchased four years ago for approximately $1.6 million.
Cowell, who was a mainstay for almost a decade on American Idol, and now stars on the X-Factor, told Ellen Degeneres that he had only driven the sports car twice in the entire time he owned it. However, the auction house reports the vehicle has 1,300 miles on it – meaning Cowell had it out for more than two rides (but not that many more).
The car itself is in mint condition. The custom black paint with black interior is one of only a handful of black on black Veyrons in America. Need some speed? With over 1000 horsepower at 6000 RPM, the 8.0 L W16-Cylinder, ALL wheel drive, 7-speed automated dual clutch transmission made this car in 2008 the fastest street legal car in America with a top speed of 253.81 mph.
Don’t worry too much about Cowell’s lack of transportation. The man is no stranger to expensive cars. Without the Bugatti Veyron to choose from, his garage still includes a Ferrari, a Bentley, a Rolls-Royce, and even an old Ford Model B Roadster.
The Bugatti Veyron is going to sold this weekend by car auction specialist Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cowell will likely take a significant hit on the sale – maybe fetching only half what he paid for it (or even less).
It’s nice to be rich.
