Dallas-based Manheim-Ruseau has reached into its library of more than 2,500 archival designs to unearth and bring to life a 1919 prototype writing desk by Art Deco master Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann using the company’s exquisite materials and signature craftsmanship. The 50-inch-long, 29-inch-deep form is made of Asian amboyna burl then decorated with inlaid ivory designs, a shagreen medallion writing surface and electroplated 22-karat gold decorative hardware. Ruhlmann would be reeling. The 78-year-old firm, started by Jane Templeton (back when it was called Don Ruseau) and run today by her grandson, Jamie Brown, is happy to specify custom sizes and materials. Prices start at $32,700. – From Robb Report
