Designed as a reminder that we can reuse office wastepaper by molding it into contemporary furniture pieces, the Shredded Collection displays 9 pieces of furniture made of a paper/resin composite hard as wood: benches, shelves, tables, consoles, and side tables – available either in dark or white. Each piece is made of shredded paper in different weights – from 3 kg of paper to 26 kg for some pieces. Some items feature high-gloss finishes on several surfaces. The darker colored ones make an impression in modern residences or offices, while the ones having white pigmented resin look like artistic corals.
By mixing confetti from shredded paper and resin, Italian design studio Jens Praet designed the collection for Industry Gallery and reinforced the idea of reusing discarded materials in a new and exciting way. An interesting feature of these products is their exceptional display as rigid objects although made of small useless pieces of shredded paper. This comes to show how bright, creative minds can reinstate the saying “one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure.”
