Reinterpreting the Catholic Eucharistic Host in Modern Furniture

The contemporary Ecstasy Dressing Table is perfect for ladies who wish they had something more than just a mirror to enjoy while preparing for their daily routine. Designed by Italian designer Cristina Celestino for Italian studio Attico, this modern dressing table interprets the Catholic eucharistic host. Rarely used as inspiration for the creation of modern furniture, the symbolic offering of bread comes to define the designer’s view on a wide-spread element stripped of its religious value and reinterpreted in an intimate beautifying gesture.

Displaying an oversized format of the Catholic Eucharistic host in a repeated pattern, the contemporary dressing table comes with a basin, a pitcher and mirrors adorned with digital print, constructing a landscape of pure form translated from the world of food into the world of beauty.

” The romantic dressing table has been purified, abstracted in volume and transformed into an “aesthetic altar”. The host’s form repeated on surfaces generates texture while digital prints use the discs as blank canvases. The intimate gesture becomes an intimate space for hedonistic enjoyment.”
