Pursuitist had the good fortune to join event sponsor Longines for the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks this past weekend in scenic Louisville, Kentucky.
We’ve already told you that the gorgeous American Pharoah swept the Derby in front of a record crowd of more than 170,000, but here’s what you really need to know: what was everyone wearing???
We were there as the celebrities took to the red carpet, sipped Mint Juleps and signature “Lilly” cocktails and donned their finest hats. Here’s what you missed at Day One, the Kentucky Oaks:

Many stylish women of the Kentucky Oaks opted for fascinators instead of hats. This contest entrant made a statement in purple. (Photo by Diane Bondareff/Invision for Longines/AP Images)
Gentlemen don’t wear hats to the Derby or Oaks, but they can make a statement with their formalwear. These gents donned coordinating colors and Lilly Pulitzer on Longines Kentucky Oaks Day. (Photo by Diane Bondareff/Invision for Longines/AP Images)
