Time was of the essence. Not just because the countdown to Christmas day was in full effect, but because the newest Rolls-Royce was in town and begging to be experienced.
Last week Rolls-Royce Motors Cars Long Island played host to its newest — a true four seater convertible — the Dawn. On site for less than 48 hours, this highly anticipated drophead coupe, re-named from the Silver Dawn of the 1950s (of which an extremely limited quantity were made), is currently one of only two Dawns in North America.
Before it travels the country to grace showrooms and attract sales, Pursuitist was invited to have our own intimate encounter with the brand’s newest beauty, expected to be one of the most successful models in the company’s history.
Around us, the halls were being ‘decked’ for a holiday event, with the Dawn centering as the surprise special guest, as Gerry Spahn (Rolls-Royce’s North American Head of Communications) and Jeffrey Levene (Regional General Manager) explained the features of the new work of automobile art so we could appreciate its strength… and sexiness.
And then — we were among the first to sit inside, remarking on the size and comfort of the Dawn’s full-sized back seat, hand-sewn Mandarin leathers, signature sizable steering wheel, and custom audio system.
After that we made merry in the Rolls-Royce showroom’s Bespoke Lounge where we envisioned our own custom Dawn fashioned just the way we’d want Santa to deliver it Christmas morning.
Are you listening St. Nick?
