Aperture perfume is ready for your close up. The new fragrance from Ulrich Lang New York joins the perfumer’s line inspired by contemporary photography. So it’s only natural that Lang partners Ulrich Lang (a former L’Oreal executive) and Britt Biegelsen are reaching out to the worldwide web to discover one great photograph from a talented perfume lover to grace the packaging of a limited Aperture edition.
Since Ulrich Lang’s fragrances are composed of eclectic notes that artfully balance simplicity with sophistication, it’s now up to Instagram users to submit Lang’s next photographic inspiration by posting images using the hashtag #LuxeLibertyLang before September 30. One winner will see their photo featured on the packaging and in a Liberty window display for the new Aperture perfume. At a Liberty celebration, the winner will also be presented with bottle #1 of the special run of just 100 numbered bottles.
The lucky winner will be selected by 20-year-old fashion photographer Olivia Bee, who made a name for herself after shooting an ad campaign for Converse when she wasn’t even old enough to drive. At 19 she notably shot imaged for Hermes, then Adidas and The New York Times.
Aperture exclusively launched September 1 at Liberty of London on Regent Street and is now available Stateside at Barneys New York. The new blend is a woody-spicy fragrance tailor-made for fall. It features top notes of aldehydes, pink pepper, black pepper and white pepper; smoky mid-notes of tobacco, jasmine, cedar wood and lily-of-the-valley; and dry notes of musk, vetiver, amber, ambergris, and other “animalic notes.” Donations from sales of the Aperture fragrance go to the not-for-profit Aperture Foundation, created in 1952 to support emerging photographers and artists.
