In an attempt to woo jet-setters and frequent travelers, a luxury hotel in Tokyo is set to offer a helicopter pick up service. Very soon guests heading to Peninsula Tokyo will be able to fly on to its rooftop!
The hotel’s fleet already boasts of two Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantoms, one immaculately restored 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II, an Audi R8 and two BMW 750 Lis along with two new MINI Cooper S Clubmans. However the hotel intends to raise the notch for guests traveling between the hotel and Narita and other airports.
As Tokyo prepares to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, Peninsula also prepares to elevate its transportation fleet to keep up with the upsurge in the number of its global guests. The hotel hopes the envisaged service will enable the hotel to act as “a new gateway to air transportation” in such upscale districts as Ginza, Marunouchi and Yurakucho.
The hotel also has plans to make use of its emergency heliport located on the rooftop which has been designed to be used in case of emergencies only. However, it intends to schedule minimum flights in early morning and at night to avoid the nuisance caused by the noise of such flights, once the helicopter pickup service takes off. Estimated to fly five times a day, the service is expected to kick off in 2015.
