Over the weekend in Stuttgart, Germany, actor Patrick Dempsey raced the Martini car in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The event is the flagship series of Porsche’s 19 one-make race series that are contested at a national or international level in individual countries and regions.
Dempsey joined the Porsche motorsport family in 2013. He competes in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship with a Porsche 911 campaigned by his own team, Dempsey Racing.
“The job as a race driver is much more satisfying than acting. Not a lot changes in television work, but in racing things change constantly – every lap, every corner and every moment of the day. I find racing very exciting,” Dempsey added.
He described the challenge of balancing his love of racing with his acting career saying, “The Hollywood folk and especially the people at Grey’s Anatomy are very cooperative and understanding. It’s never easy but I’m supported by several great people in both acting and motorsport.”
