Located in a residential complex in southern Mumbai, the new boutique day spa by KdnD studio LLP ranks high in functionality and aesthetics. The overall design of the place addresses the senses of both Asian and European visitors.
The space is fluid, yet wee divided by use of wooden screens. According to the designers, “the layout of the spa has been simply segregated with the more public functions like waiting, gallery and meditation spaces on the lower level with the individual massage therapy rooms located at the upper level. Focus on texture and lighting helps to create an environment which appeals to the six senses and accentuates the feeling of getting pampered; the essence of visiting a day spa!” The Spa is also inspired by the Turkish baths, especially the hamman room with its yellow textured walls. Color is a strong attribute of the design, creating memorable spaces filled with positive energy. [via Contemporist, Photography: Sebastian Zachariach]
