Orenda, the authentic backcountry retreat, nestled on 40 acres in the heart of Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, welcomes guests back for its 2014 season on May 9. The all-inclusive camping experience is located less than four hours from New York City, and features six custom canvas cabins where guests will enjoy a safe and comfortable wilderness experience in a beautiful mountain setting while enjoying all the outdoor activities and relaxing luxuries of backcountry living.
Celebrating its third season, Orenda is excited to announce a variety of updates this year including the addition of a sixth canvas cabin accommodating up to three guests, a full-service kitchen, and new family friendly on-site activities like archery and guided nature walks.
Nestled among high trees, rolling hills and along a pristine mountain brook, Orenda is a place where you can enjoy nature at its most spectacular: the Adirondack Mountains, the mighty Hudson River, and the pristine waters of the lake region. Highlights of the private retreat include a rustic open-air kitchen, a large open-air dining pavilion, a bath house and heated outdoor shower, a communal fire pit, organic garden, walking trails and endless outdoor activities. Take a tour of Orenda at this link.
At Orenda, guests will enjoy privacy in six spacious yet cozy custom canvas cabins, accommodating one to four guests and thoughtfully placed in their own unique, natural setting, offering calm and solace for all. Guests will enjoy the sounds of the Adirondack wild – birds chirping, a babbling brook, fire crackling and a mountain breeze rustling the leaves, as they sleep beneath the stars. Orenda’s custom cabin variations offer the choice of one queen bed or two single beds and children can be provided a smaller bed upon request. The canvas cabins are outfitted with Adirondack inspired furnishings and amenities including plush down comforters, pillows, fresh linens and clean towels. Wood burning stoves, and stocked split firewood is also provided for that warm rustic feel.
Guests will also enjoy the simple yet essential comforts of Orenda’s bath house and tranquil heated outdoor shower. Rustic in design, modern in function, the bath house is centrally located on the property, featuring two bathrooms and a wash sink offering fresh water, and electrical outlets. The heated outdoor shower is located in a private and tranquil setting, and features a traditional style design that includes a water tower and local cedar built enclosure. Guests will shower in privacy while enjoying the setting and fresh air of the great outdoors. Orenda proudly provides Kiss My Face brand bath amenities for guests – an all-natural, cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly body care line.
Taking the concept of camping to a whole new level, Orenda offers a portfolio of exciting outdoor activities both on-site and off property, led by licensed guides. The team at Orenda develops personalized itineraries for each guest, based on their specific interests and abilities. All-inclusive on-site activities available at Orenda include kayaking, canoeing, hiking, swimming and archery. New this season for the kids and family, Orenda is also offering t-shirt tie-dying and nature walks programs for an additional fee.
Additional off-site activities include white-water rafting down the Hudson River, rock-climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking and guided excursions. Orenda now also offers on site massage therapy, featuring a menu of Adirondack-inspired treatments in a relaxing wilderness environment.
Orenda has made it a tradition to bring hearty and healthy meals to the great outdoors. Guests are provided breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks daily, prepared by Orenda’s talented culinary staff. With organic and farm fresh always in mind, Orenda has partnerships with local farms to ensure all ingredients are of high quality and local, whenever possible.
