From Regent Seven Seas: A New Luxury Suite On An All-Suites Ship
A new luxury cruise ship, the Regent Seven Seas Explorer, will have a suite that’s about the size of the average American a house when it debuts in 2016.
At 3,875 square feet, the Regent Suite on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer will be the largest cruise suite ever, CEO Jason Montague told reporters Tuesday.
“There is nothing like the Regent Suite anywhere in the cruise industry,” Montague said. The suite comes at the price of $5,000 per person per day.
It has two bedrooms, a living room with a custom-made grand piano, and a private spa with a sauna and a steam room. The master bedroom will have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. A glass-enclosed outdoor garden also provides private scenery views.
“We set a high benchmark for Seven Seas Explorer, not only to build a ship that far surpasses the current standard in luxury cruising, but to design a ship that will be recognized industry-wide as the most luxurious ship ever,” said line president Jason Montague. “This ship will offer our guests a new level of grandeur throughout.”
The Explorer will make its debut 14-day voyage from Monte Carlo to Venice July 20, 2016, and then travel around the Mediterranean. Reservations for the general public begin Feb. 4.
From Bally’s: A New Price For Passion Collecting/Investing In Antique Motorcycles
Recently, at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, Bonhams’ fifth annual motorcycles sale was held by a series of British makers.
A Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle from 1938 garnered $322,000, nearly surpassing the low estimate of $325,000.
Two record prices were achieved for the established Vincent brand: a 1950 Vincent Series C White Shadow, one of 15 ever produced, achieved a record price of $224,250 (est. $140-170,000), and a Touring Rapide with Blacknell Bullet Sidecar from 1949 became the most expensive post-war Rapide sold at auction when it took in $126,500 (est. $100-120,000).
A restored Brough Superior SS80 with Watsonian Sport Sidecar from 1936 established a record price for a Matchless-engined SS80 when it sold for $115,000 (est. $110-130,000). Notably, a 1962 Matchless G50 Roadracer, driven by the American racer Dick Mann when he won the American Motorcyclist Association Grand National Championship in 1963, also sold for a record price of $115,000 within its $100,000-to-$120,000 estimate.
American, Italian, and Japanese motorcycles were also sought after by collectors. A 1912 Harley-Davidson X8E Big Twin, previously owned by American actor and motorcyclist Steve McQueen, sold for $117,300 (est. $120-140,000). A rare 1959 Ducati 175 F3 Production Racer, in racing condition, achieved $89,700 (est. $80,000-100,000).
With roughly 230 motorcycles up for sale, the house also offered over 100 lots dedicated to memorabilia. Overall, Bonhams took in $4.47 million and exhibited a continued strength in the market for collectors’ motorcycles.
