Next month the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools will open at the site of the former Ambassador Hotel, where Robert Kennedy was assassinated in 1968. The school will open with a whopping price tag of $578 million, making it the nation’s most expensive public school ever.
The K-12 complex to house 4,200 students.
The new school will be loaded with amenities, including fine art murals and a marble memorial depicting the school’s namesake, a manicured public park, a state-of-the-art swimming pool and preservation of pieces of the original hotel.
Many experts say children do better in pleasant surroundings, but the price tag worries many.
Many argue, however, that it’s a better alternative than the world’s tallest hotel – which was once proposed by Donald Trump for the site.
