Automaker Jaguar and the French luxury luggage brand Moynat have revealed a specially designed curved trunk, which will help discerning customers make the most of the F-Type’s limited luggage space.
The trunk, created by hand forming eight layers of wood, is covered in slate grey leather and lined with a contrasting mandarin orange — Moynat’s signature color.
Moynat has in part built its reputation on creating made-to-measure travel accessories and cases for premium cars and its latest creation, which took over 900 man hours from conception to completion, was devised in part to commemorate the opening of the first Moynat boutique in London and the first ever beyond the French capital.
Of the finished one-off piece, Moynat’s artistic director, Ramesh Nair, said: “It was a pleasure to collaborate with Jaguar to create this piece. Our brands share a commitment to beautiful design combined with quality and functionality — qualities which are espoused in this bespoke trunk.”
Jaguar is the third luxury automotive brand to reveal a bespoke baggage collection this month. March has already seen BMW unveil a set of Luis Vuitton cases, made entirely of carbon fiber, to go with its upcoming i8 hybrid supercar, while Bentley has also debuted a new spring range of ladies’ handbags that use the same levels of craftsmanship and quality of leather hide usually reserved for its cars’ cabins.
