Looking for a second home that could blast you into the wonderful world of forest life? This exceptionally modern weekend getaway in southern Puget Sound, along the eastern edge of the Case Inlet was imagined by Seattle-based studio MW Works Architecture and Design as a modern comfort statement gently adorning a forested slope. Named after its location, the Case Inlet Retreat in Washington overlooks the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound. Creating a strong bond with the surroundings, cleverly placed glazing connects the high-end modern interiors with the natural display of greenery outside.
As described by its designers, this spectacular retreat is focused on inspiring relaxation: “Anchored by a weathered cedar clad bedroom wing, a bold concrete cantilever projects the living and dining into the dense forest and toward the view.” Under a flat roof with deep overhangs, social spaces like the living room and kitchen open towards the surroundings. Corner windows make sure the panoramic views makes the eye wish it had a 360 degree angle. Another interesting set of details shape the private zone – the master bathroom “gives the users a ritual of bathing within the forest”. An outdoor shower can easily become the perfect daily routine, do you agree?
