Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles announced that its Poison Dart Frog-green Unimog Design Concept has won the prestigious “Red Dot Award Design Concept”. The Red Dot Award is given for concepts that combine good design with good ideas. The Unimog concept defeated over 3,000 other submissions for the award.
The Unimog Design Concept was commissioned to commemorate Unimog’s 60th anniversary. It is an off-road special-purpose vehicle that uses green paint (inspired by poison dart frogs), and features an open cockpit, five-spoke wheels, and a design straight out of a science fiction film.
Mercedes-Benz notes that the design concept is just that – a concept – and not to expect anything beyond that.
