McLaren announced today that it has started production of the 570S Coupe, marking the introduction of the Sports Series to its line-up of luxury high-performance sports cars. The first McLaren 570S Coupe to roll off the line at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, England has been delivered to a retailer in the UK. Currently, the McLaren retailers have taken more than 1,000 orders for the 570S.
The start of production of the 570S marks a new chapter in the short history of McLaren. It adds a third level to its product strategy of Ultimate Series (P1), Super Series (675LT, 650S Spider, 650S Coupe) and Sports Series (570S and the forthcoming 540C). When the full Sports Series family is complete by 2018, it is forecast to increase the annual volume of McLaren Automotive to over 4,000 cars per year.
According to Jolyon Nash, Executive Director – Sales and Marketing at McLaren “The Sports Series is targeted towards a new buyer and opens McLaren up to the sports car market that we have not served to date. The buyer of a Sports Series model will still experience the benchmark performance and driver engagement delivered by every McLaren model, but will also notice the increased usability and practicality that differentiates it from our existing cars.”
The Sports Series is priced from $184,900 for the 570S Coupe and orders are being taken through McLaren retailers.
