Marni’s first ‘Evening Collection’ pulls together luxurious looks designed by creative director Consuelo Castiglioni. It’s a new turn for the brand, which aimed to create “a womanly strictness that morphs into a sense of elegant nonchalance,” and the first new line since Diesel founder Renzo Rosso purchased the company late last year.
Designed to cater for fans of the brand who are looking for dressier evening pieces, the collection eschews the more print-heavy aesthetics of Marni’s regular ready-to-wear and places a stronger focus on clean cut silhouettes and a nocturnal palette.
The collection ranges from US$600 for silk duchesse tops all the way up to US$5,530 for an embroidered coat featuring nutria fur cuffs. Shoe options include black and gold stack heeled sandals, jewel-embellished sandals, and masculine lace-ups. Bags come in coloured python, fur and embroidered finishes.
Founded in Milan by Castiglioni in 1994, Marni has grown into an international fashion brand with 100 stores around the world. In December last year Diesel boss Renzo Rosso took a majority stake in the company.
