Designer Marc Jacobs is being recognized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for his contributions to the fashion world. Jacobs is the 2011 recipient of the CFDA’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented to him on Monday by Sofia Coppola, a longtime muse for Jacobs. The award recognizes Jacobs fearlessness when it comes to fashion. As designer for Gucci, Jacobs released a punk-rock line for Spring/Summer 2009. When Jacobs left Gucci to start his own line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, the designer still vered from the crowd and pushed the boundaries of what fashion could be to the extreme.
The award makes Jacobs a bonafide fashion legend. He joins previous winners like Donna Karan, Yves Saint Laurent and Geoffrey Beene as one of the most influential modern designers.
