Combining wood and water together, especially in a bathroom, isn’t a common practice. But Switzerland based design firm, Alegna specializes in creating bathroom dreams of wood. Renowned for their elegant series of bathtubs and sinks made entirely of wood, the brand has announced their association with One Tower Bridge in London. Being built at the base of one of the most iconic landmark, Tower Bridge, the high-class luxury apartments offer unobstructed view of the River Thames.
Just recently, Cambridge House, the flagship building which is the part of the project has opened up two show apartments for prospective buyers. Alegna has designed all wood bathtubs for these apartments along with complementing ceiling and wall fittings. Designed to offer long, warm soaking bath with hard to resist the warmth, texture and authenticity of wood, these bathtubs are exclusively customized for One Tower Bridge.
Unlike the traditional solid wooden bathtubs, Alegna makes use of a complex method to make them completely resistant to water. Real wood veneers are connected to each other, pressed into the form and then sealed with synthetic resin so that the wood can no longer soak up any water. This makes the bathtubs easy to maintain and guarantees an extremely long life span. Boasting of their green side, the manufacturer also claims that only certified wood from forests with controlled felling and reforestation are used.
The bathtub in the bathroom of the Honky Apartment is made of nut tree wood, silky gloss finish. The other bathtub in the Casa Forma Apartment is made of smoked oak, silky gloss finish. Fitted with wall and ceiling elements made of the same wood, the bathroom also offers entertainment with integrated flat screen.
Alegna has been commissioned to outfit all the 36 luxury apartments and 3 penthouse duplex apartments of Cambridge House with such outstanding wood bathtubs. The price of one bathtub including wall and ceiling elements is about EURO 14’000.
