Joining Julia Roberts and Kate Winslet as the beauty brand’s ambassadress, Lancôme has chosen Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o as their new face.
In a statement released by the L’Oreal-owned company, 31-year-old Nyong’o said she is honored to join Lancome, a brand “I have always loved.”
Xavier Vey, president of Lancome USA says the star represents today’s modern woman. “Having Lupita as a Lancome abassadress will help support our mission in the U.S. market, which is to speak to all women,” says Vey.
“I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself,” Nyong’o added.
Françoise Lehmann, General Manager of Lancôme International said that Lupita was “by the essence the Lancôme woman”, because she is “talented and committed, true to her African beauty, and showing a great curiosity and open-mindedness in her career choices.”
