Dressed as the Pearl Queen, Lupita Nyong’o stole the show at Oscars 2015 by flaunting the Calvin Klein creation. Studded with over 6000 pearls, the custom dress designed by Francisco Costa is worth $150,000.
While the fashion police gave their nod to the show-stopping pearl-encrusted outfit, Los Angeles police was summoned to report the theft of the Lupita’s award-worthy ivory gown. The Calvin Klein halter dress with an open back was stolen from Nyong’o’s room at the London Hotel in West Hollywood on Wednesday as stated by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It is also reported that the 31 year old Mexican-Kenyan actress was not in the room at the time of the theft and the dress was likely taken from The London Hotel between 8 am and 9 pm. While the officers were checking CCTV footage as a part of investigation, detectives are interviewing and looking for witnesses.
While Calvin Klein has not yet commented, the hotel has confirmed the unfortunate incident, “This is a terribly unfortunate situation, and we are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”
