“Louis Vuitton Series 2 — Past, Present and Future” exhibition is a contemporary interpretation of the labels’ Spring Summer 2015 Women’s ready-to-wear collection. The multiroom exhibit took off in Los Angeles, allowing visitors to explore the creative process behind the collection. Certainly not for shoppers, it will attract LV fans who are keen to connect to the French luxury house much deeply.
The distinctively themed rooms open up Nicolas Ghesquière’s world of influences and inspirations as well as share the excitement of the fashion show experience.
Visitors can enter the exhibit through an oversized LV logo which was initially the seal of founder Louis Vuitton, who launched his house as a trunk maker in 1854. They can then move on to experience the opening animation of Nicolas Ghesquière’s much anticipated Spring 2015 women’s collection show.
Furthermore, the Magical Trunk section highlights the most iconic product of the house, its trunk. It pays tribute to the genius of Louis, who first translated the genuine “spirit of travel” through the legendary trunks and travel items he created. Seen through hologram projections, this installation blends past inspirations, current designs and future ideas.
And the Savoir-faire Room focuses on the Malletage which is inspired by the inside of the Louis Vuitton trunk. True to its name, the Backstage section recreates a fashion show’s backstage space and allows the visitors to immerse in the heart of a show’s production.
While infinite Show Room is a 360-degree projection room that puts on display all looks of Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring Summer 2015 fashion show, the Accessories Gallery showcases the objects on the pure white canvas of Marte Mei van Haaster’s scanned, 3-D printed figures alongside heritage pieces.
“Louis Vuitton Series 2 – Past, Present and Future” is open until 22nd February at 1135 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles.
