Spanish luxury fashion house and part of the LVMH conglomerate, the Loewe has announced a new capsule collection with Selfridges, London. The young and casual Tales of Spain collection is inspired by the label’s heritage and designed to lure the youth by rendering a modern twist. Blending leather and prints, Loewe’s Tales of Spain collection includes bags, scarves, sunglasses, temporary tattoos, nail stickers, bracelets as well as belts for Spring Summer 2013 season. Also watch out for a ‘Tales of Spain’ sweatshirt with the iconic Loewe monogram.
Designed by Loewe’s creative director, Stuart Vevers, the fresh and vibrant collection is based on three emblematic prints – ‘Manton de Manila’, ‘Mariposas Espanolas’ and ‘Barroco’.
The “Mantón de Manila” (Manila Shawl) is the Spanish fringed shawl whose popularity in flamenco traditions dates back to the 18th century, and whose bird and flower designs owe their origins to ancient Chinese silk scarves decorated with dragons.
“Mariposas” (Butterflies) print showcases these beautiful insects that are particularly bountiful in Spain, with more than 230 species. Butterflies have featured on Loewe’s silk designs for many years, often from the hand of leading Spanish artists.
“Barroco” (Baroque) print, whose florid, melodramatic forms make a shameless appeal to the senses, reflects Spain’s influence on the Baroque style during the 18th century.
The exclusive young and fresh collection ranging from $230 – $1650 will be available from May 22nd at brand’s flagship stores as well as online.
