Preppy fashionistas, unite. Target has announced ‘Ticket to Sunshine,’ its latest collaboration, with none other than iconic fashion brand Lilly Pulitzer. The 250+ piece collection hits stores April 19th and will feature “apparel, accessories and shoes for women and girls, as well as home accents, outdoor entertaining accessories, beach gear, travel essentials and more,” says the Target blog, A Bullseye View.
Not familiar with the name? Lilly Pulitzer was a Palm Beach socialite in the 1950s who crafted the original prints to cover juice stains on her clothing from the work she was doing selling fresh-squeezed orange juice from her husband’s citrus groves. Jackie Kennedy popularized Pulitzer’s dresses, which are considered the original “American resortwear.”
Today, the brand is sold at standalone stores as well as in department stores like Bloomingdales.
“Target is a design leader known for offering an unparalleled assortment of stylish, affordable products,” said Jane Schoenborn, vice president, creative communications, Lilly Pulitzer. “The Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection marks a new chapter for our brand, and we’re excited to give Lilly fans everywhere, including those who have loved the brand for years and those who will get to know it for the first time through this collaboration, a chance to experience this incredibly chic lifestyle collection.”
