Lexus retook the top stop in the 2009 rankings.
Lexus overtook Porsche to reclaim the number-one slot in J.D. Power and Associates’ annual Initial Quality Study. In the 2009 rankings, released Monday, Cadillac climbed to 3rd place, followed by Hyundai, which moved past Honda, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz. Several mainstream domestic brands fared well in the 2009 IQS survey, with Ford and Chevrolet finishing just behind Toyota, in 8th and 9th places, respectively. Among those brands falling below the industry average were BMW, Acura, Buick, Audi, Volvo, Saturn, Lincoln, Jaguar, Jeep, Saab, Smart and Land Rover.
