Luxury carmaker Lexus has produced a one-off cardboard version of its IS sports sedan.
It’s almost entirely manufactured out of cardboard — powering it, for instance, is an electric motor, while the chassis is aluminum and steel.
Nevertheless, 1700 cardboard sheets were precision cut on the way to constructing the pulp-produce vehicle.
Scales and Models together with LaserCut Works worked with Lexus on the conceptual project, two London-based specialist companies with extensive experience in the design and creation of prototypes, architectural models and bespoke commissions. In all, the Origami Car took three months to build.
