Marc Jacobs brings on board transgender model Lana Wachowski for their Spring Summer 2016 ad campaign. Lana Wachowski, along with brother Andy, is a producer, director and screenwriter known for The Matrix film trilogy, V for Vendetta and Cloud Atlas.
Facing the lens of David Sims, Lana has been styled by Katie Grand. Her hair is fashioned by Guido Palau and makeup by Diane Kendal.
Celebrating Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski, Jacobs states, “It is with an overwhelmingly full heart that I share this first portrait of our spring/summer 2016 ad campaign, Lana Wachowski.”
Speaking more about the campaign, he adds, “This season’s ad campaign represents a series of connected events; a visual narrative. It is a personal diary of people who have and continue to inspire me and open my mind to different ways of seeing and thinking. The spectrum of individuals photographed in our spring/summer 2016 ad campaign represent a celebration of my America.”
He also told WWD that the people featured in their campaign personify this collection of fashion through their individuality. Collectively, they embody and celebrate the spirit and beauty of equality.
Marc was floored by Lana in 2012, when she gave a speech to accept the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award. Her words and opinion has had such profound effect on the American fashion designer that he admits to relate to Lana’s words in his daily life and also shares her speech with close friends.
Marc, who is known to cast famous personalities in his ads, announced the newest face of his label via his Instagram account.
